Rules for the "Design a golem" competition

Write a very specific description of the golem you'd like to see in Golemizer and post it IN THIS THREAD. The more specific AND interesting the description of the golem is the better your chances to win. Describe the origins, what could the powers, be creative!

A sketch of the golem is not required though would surely be very helpful (we won't judge your drawing skills so don't be afraid to draw a little something).

Your golem must be in line with the steampunk theme of Golemizer. Check the current golems, check the skills, use this as guidelines.

Keep the size of the golem SMALLER than the X-Rex.

Things that will NOT win:

- Magical stuff or fantasy themed creatures
- Transformers or high tech golems (cyborgs, ...)
- You get the picture...

If you need some help to get in the "steampunk mood", click here: http://www.google.com/search?q=steampunk

I will lock this thread on September 13th so post your design BEFORE September 12th to make sure you can participate. Once this thread is locked, no further submissions will be accepted. You can edit your post until the thread is locked.

The winners will be picked by GMs and myself. We will be checking:

- Originality (try to find something different from the golems we currently have)
- Depth of the description. Don't just say: "A mechanical cat that can shoot laser from its eyes". Try to come up with a story about the golem.
- Quality of the description. Take some minutes to check for typos. A text filled with "ur", "plzzz" or stuff like that will receive a bad rating.
- Steampunk theme. The more steampunk it feels, the better.

Prizes:

1st position will win 1,000 Altus Coins and will see its golem added to the game for all players to craft

2nd position will win 400 Altus Coins

3rd position will win 100 Altus Coins

If for some reason the 3rd and 2nd positions doesn't match the rules above, we will only be picking a first position.

The winners will be announced on September 14th.

Post your design in this thread only

this is big green, moves by floating along with rotating drills. It attacks with drills.

there is a spriteshet of it here (dont worry i didnt spend all day on it bout 20mins).

Image
i hope i dont come across as smug or overconfident since i donr the pic.

blue and pink background was to make it easier to centre.

If it had to have a back story,it could be that someone was attempting to make a better digger but there was a few glitches, which meant the drills started spinning the wrong way and the golem escaped on a crazed rampage, eventually people caught it and discovered that it had a good fighting capability,so they took it apart and studied its blue prints.eventually learning how to make it.Some used it for mining others used it for combat.

hes called big gren because hes big and well....green.has two pods with rotating drills on for arms.and a small red visor for vision, he hovers only about a foot above the ground, and posses a fan on the under side on him so that it is constantly cooled and does not overheat, the two pods which are arms are rotated on two very small steel pipes.Keep it oiled regularly or it'll rust
Has good heat, corrosive and slash resistance due to the paint and shape on him.

if it was craftable would be engineer, and would probably require parts like steel pipes, gears, springs, steel sheets and possibly steam engines (he could be steam powered).

Also is high in defence due to his shape and twin layered body armor.could be used for mining, but can attack to.If it was used for mining it can store ore in its huge round body.
I got the idea for it when i was trying to come up with an idea and i kep making random circles. Then i detailed it abit and ta-da here it is.There was no real inspiration for it ,although i was told from the front it represents a pok'e ball.I dont see it myself.

Hoverbot

Description
Hovering a few feet/inches above the ground, the Hoverbot is fast, yet however, it must be light to help itself fly, therefore it does not have much heat, corrosive, and pierce resistance, but it can maneuver at a quick speed, blasting steam from it's core engine. It's main attack is a steam gust, which does steam damage. As a secondary attack, which occurs 15% of the time is a heat gust, which deals more damage than a steam gust does, and deals Heat Damage. It's strongest attack is Smash, which deals the most damage of all attacks, yet happens only 5% of the time. It deals bludgeoning damage.

Origin
Where did the idea from this come from? It was said, that the one who came up with the concept of the Hoverbot was a Lowly Tinkerer. One day, he wanted to take a long walk, up north, to the mountains, where there was a new city which he wanted to visit. But soon enough, the Tinkerer became tired and took a rest. Soon enough, he continued forward, but then... at the mountain pass, there were a strange group of people... who were carrying odd gizmos of some sort... which looked somewhat like weapons! The Tinkerer was not allowed to pass by these people, and they demanded that he hand over some gold. But he had no gold to give, and he had to turn away... So the Tinkerer tried to make a flying vehicle to fly over the people... as he couldn't make a blimp... No one knows what happened to him... or his machine... Rumored it is, that after all these years, he is still alive and up in those mountains... captured by the Northerners...

But who helped develop them? His machine plans were found by a group of scientists, and they began construction of them... for war...

Vampire Bat

Artwork:
Here's my horrible first try at drawing a bat:

Image

Obviously, this isn't what I intended the golem to look like, I just gave a shot at drawing lol

Description:
*Dark black color
*basic bat features(wings, ears, tiny feet, sharp teeth mistaken for fangs)

Abilities:
Life Drain:
A special ability that only works on bio golems which acts as the golems own version of regeneration. As it attacks a bio golem, it steals the very life from them.(This attack might help with balancing bio and engineering golems as this golem has a slight disadvantage against engineering golems) Upon attacking an engineering golem, it does damage to them but cant steal any life.

Backstory:
As the players of Golemizer mined and mined in their crippled dungions/mines, they showed no consern for what damages they may be causing to the great land of Lupini.

Many Years Ago:
A great evil doctor that came to Lupini along with Altus(but in the shadows where altus could not see) worked on his evil experiments deep within the ground. This evil doctor wished to create a creature that could face all of Altus's creations and allow him to take full control of Lupini. At first, it was successful as Altus was running with his clockwork golems such as the Clockwork Gnome, but then a new type of creature came around. The Bio Golems! The evil doctor became angry. He had to design a creature that could face off with these new golems. The doctor only got a chance for 1 experiment. He designed a creature that could feed off the very energy that they were designed to fight. The Vampire Bat! But, as the Vampire Bat was just newly constructed, Altus busted into the laboratory with his great bio golems. The Vampire Bats succeeded in doing what they were designed to do and fought off these golems. Soon, all of the bio golems had been feed upon and the Vampire Bats had nothing to eat. The evil doctor soon realized what he had failed to do. The Vampire Bats were still incomplete. They were missing a vital component that only Altus had. Without this component, the golems were uncontrollable. As Altus saw what was happening, he immediately sealed off the laboratory just as the bats headed for the evil doctor.

Back In The Present:
After much mining by the Players of Golemizer, they have broken into some underground laboratory. It is filled with much information and seems to have signs that life once existed within it but, by some unforeseeable reason, no longer. By some help from Altus(with some research he secretly adds in without the players noticing), the players learn how to create a devastating creature that they could use just like any other golem.

Backstory Note:
Ya, this Back-story has a lot of wholes and probably doesn't quite fit with much of the lore(I don't exactly know all of the Golemizer lore! :/) but its the best I could think of to fit the Vampire Bat in(i really want the Vampire Bat added ) at the current moment(I'll try to think of something better later).

BRAIN LURKERS

OK i have posted this before but its my best idea.

origin: Deep in a dark lab know only as the dark project a group of scientists try to find the ultimate weapon they planed on fusing pure nothing with a living thing but all the tests had failed one day the main scientist finds him self in old age no closer than where he was when he started years ago so he begins he search for immortality, during his study's he finds that a human can run with only a brain so before his last breath fades he has the rest of the team put his brain in a bio mecha suit to keep his brain living, after it is done he awakens to find him self missing the one thing that makes him human, his brain is needed to work but not feel he is missing his heart. With out it he loses all feeling of right, wrong, time and space every thing is a blur he sees the team and in blind rage screams YOU DID THIS!!!!. The team hears the voice echoing through their minds there was a team of seven there is now seven brain lurkers ever looking for a way to regain the heart that made then human.

description: This would be an mix of sorts between bio and mecha it would need a brain and some blood but the rest would be iron and such, it wouldn't be very strong health wise or resistant but would have a lot of attack and evade.

here is the original post i did on it http://www.golemizer.com/index.php/foru ... =17&t=2428

I would post the concept art here but my pc cant view them sorry for that.

Spider Zombie (had to post a 2nd time because the first one didnt show up x.x)

description
a mutated red spider with a green hairy exoskeleton and red eyes moves by scuttling around using its eight legs

abilities
poison bite
only affective on biological golems this slowly causes damage to the bitten golem
webbing
holds enemy's in place for a short period of time

origin
first discovered on Diluculo Island by a scientist seeking to test the effects of mutated worms on different species of animals when introduced to a red spider's corpse it was discovered that a superior species could be created after much testing and many failed experiments this creature was spawned sadly the scientist was devoured by his failed experiments thankfully his research remained intact

(stats to be picked by the gm i was hoping to use the freezing ranged attack used by the red spider instead of webbing sadly i could not find out what it was called)
=D WHEEEEEEE TACO'S!!!!....im guarding the hooouuussseee

Okay, my thoughts for a new golem:

Name: Lurch
Habitat: Wetlands/Oceans/Beaches
Attack: Tentacle Slap/Slime Throw

Origin: The Lurch was discovered off the coast on North-Eastern Dilucilo. The "squadron" of Lurches that were found there had a leader and peons. They fished and hunted Hom Cultist and June Warriors. Lurches evolved from the pirates that crashed on the southern area of the island. They moved to the north and discovered a bountiful supply of water from the sea there. As they drank the water, they ingested the chemical leftovers of Dr. Grant's creations. These chemicals warped the insides of the pirates bodily system and eventually turned their skin a palish green. After many years their legs turned into tentacles by a diverse, and really rare, form of Mitosis in the legs that results in certain chemical reactions.
The lurches lost their previous language and developed a kind of sonar language to communicate among each other. Among the first few flights to the island on the Steam Blimps, some reported an odd creature swimming among the seaweed, but it blended in so well that everyone else thought Chase- I mean the person was crazy. Just recently the team of mad scientists rediscovered the creatures and gave them the name Lurch.

Description: Though I have a picture already, I'll give this too. The Lurch has a slimy outer coating that allows it to slip on and off of land fairly simple and glides through the water even easier and swifter. The actual skin is rough and the tentacles are very flexible and permeable to nutrients in the water.

Items:

[*]4 Animal Hide quality 3+
[*]2 Ill Scented Trillium
[*]Heart +
[*]2 Human Arms
[*]Human Head
[*]Torso
[*]2 Red Spider Blood quality 2+

A Creature with a turtle like metal body and 2 arms with 3 claws on the end, a head shaped like a wolf and the legs of a rex.

A Dr. grants dna twist gone terribly wrong once it gave its first breath of like killed 2 of grants guard rexes and ran.

Its maniacal brain giving it more intelligence it hid in a remote area feeding off T-rexes and Raptors.

It hit far under ground making it own caves with primitive pit traps to catch its prey for years this peaceful creature hid till one day there was a cave in forcing It to leave or start digging again, it chose to head back where it was all started to find its creator no longer alive.

In confusion of what to do if panicked killing every thing in its path trying to escape this island it was trapped on till one day it started to dig it dig so far that it ended up on Lupini north mountains where the population is less.

It started to feed off travels golems while mainly hiding in caves of the mountains and nearby city's, no one ever seen it for years it just became a myth that drunks babbled about claiming to see it.

The unnamed creature spent it hours mining and using its brain to learn as it examined it self so it could create more like it storing most of the best mining stuff it found in its back to keep the dampness away from it.

The more it created the more it got cramped in side a slow growing cave compared to how many it made of its own kind soon many of them had ot leave to find there own place, and more people started seeing this myth its created kind lacked the ability to learn as well as the original and people could see these dumb creates coming out.

Many started to capture them and train them as slaves for fighting and mining they also learned fast this creature was no good for digging for it kept causing cavins.

The Flame Thrower was originally designed by Doc Blimmer during his attempts to outdo Dr. Altus. While trying to find out how Dr. Altus made his advancements Doc Blimmer found he couldn’t keep his forges hot enough to work in without stopping to stoke the heat. After hours of pondering this problem, an idea sparked in his head. Doc Blimmer combined a small tank with a cylinder and some steel pipes to create a gas powered flame thrower.
After adjustments caused many lost eyebrows, Doc Blimmer decided his flame thrower wasn’t flexible enough. So he added in a gear and spring to create an adjustable arm for the flame thrower. Doc Blimmer was so pleased with his new invention he began thinking of new ways to use his adjustable flame thrower.
Late one night while toiling away at his forges, Doc Blimmer decided to combine the flame thrower and the steam mole. Doc Blimmer found he could combine the tracks of the steam mole with the flame thrower to create a portable flame that could be used like the steam mole. Doc Blimmer decided to test his new prototype and discovered that zombie’s, clockwork gnomes, and mutant mushrooms fell easily before this golem’s flame attacks.

Re: Design a golem competition!

My idea of a golem comes from that of the Egyptians version of a golem, the Sphinx. I call my golem The Mecha-sphinx (although I would prefer the name MiniSpynx). The Sphinx is a man-made object that is believed to come to live and serve as guardians for their powerful master, so it is the perfect golem for Golemizer to have next. To get an idea of how the Mecha-sphinx should look, well imagine a golem with the body of the mechanized bull, slightly smaller and more feline looking, but larger than that of a wolf. It would have the head of a bearded gnome and mounted on its sides are time warp guns made to look like wings.

The Mecha-sphinx is a construct of a combination of high expertise in bioengineering, smithing, weapon-making and mechanical engineering because it's components requires a human brain, a steam engine and two time-warpers. Because it has a 'humanized' head, it will be more believe-able that the golem has all the abilities a remote controlled golem has. The golem will be agile which will mean it will have a strong attack and defense stat but will have lower level hp than most other mechanized golems. The weak hp stats is because the golem is a combination of at least 3 different engineering disciplines and so it is susceptible to malfunction if it sustains more than just a few hits.

Other reasons why this golem idea is a winner is because it will not be difficult for the designers and programmers to implement such a golem since it basically copies the other existing golems. It introduces a feline 'character' into the game which golemizer currently lacks. I also believe that the golem will be a favorite among players because it serves not only as a lovely companion but because of its stun gun capabilities will serve to safe them from hostile encounters.

And now for the story: Okay my previous story wasn't good. So I have come up with a better one. A mayor's assistant asked an artist and an engineer to build a statue and a golem respectively on the orders of the mayor. The artist was commissioned to build a statue of the mayor's likeness to be displayed in the mayor's mansion. And the engineer was commissioned to build a golem that would manage the mansion's gardens. The mayor informed his assistant of what he wanted the works to look like and she sent them over to the craftsmen. However she had mixed them up unknowingly. So when the works were completed and delivered to the mayor, he found he had a golem with 'a face that looked exactly like him on a body with a figure that women want to run their hands all over' and had the ability to 'stun anyone that looked at it'. And in his mansion was a statue that looked like 'something that could spread lots of (manure) all over the place'. The mayor wanted to get rid of both items, but when the city folks found out that the mayor had used city funds to make both items, the mayor soon realized just how useful the Mecha-sphinx was in helping him escape.

Well that's the story, but if you are curious to know what happened to the mayor later...well he 'resigned' as mayor and was re-assigned as an officer-in-charge of reforesting the Golemizer world. You see, a long time ago, the now-ex-mayor was in charge of the trees in Golemizer. And he had most of the high quality trees replaced with 0 quality trees because the statistics showed that most players chopped down more 0 quality trees than the high quality ones. So the mayor decided to give the players more of what they wanted. Rumor has it that in real life, that person works as an executive at your favorite TV cable network.
